Essentially, officials want Congress to require all services that enable communications — including encrypted e-mail transmitters like BlackBerry, social networking Web sites like Facebook and software that allows direct “peer to peer” messaging like Skype — to be technically capable of complying if served with a wiretap order. The mandate would include being able to intercept and unscramble encrypted messages.

It's probably just a matter of ass coverage, so they have no worries about keeping the vast stores of information they already have.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happens to the people who join the FBI and cops who have integrity. The people that would write their own mother a jaywalking ticket. People with a firm discipline, that expect it of others, and who join up to maintain a world they are comfortable with. I wonder, because it must be obvious when your a cop these days, that your gang is just as bad as any of the others... just larger and with better chains and switchblades.
