Gutless Regulations Kills

The mining industry used its political muscle, time and time again, to try and make sure that the Mine Safety and Health Administration was toothless and gutless.

They succeeded.

One has to suspect that the mine safety inspectors didn't want to pull surprise inspections, given that they drove easily-identifiable unmarked cars.

  1. I think mine safety inspector is probably a terrible, terrible career choice. Probably have to find a safe balance between being in their pocket and doing your job well enough not to get investigated. Get it wrong and end up in jail or run off some mountain road.
