John McCain in 2006 about "don't ask, don't tell":
"The day that the leadership of the military comes to me and says, 'Senator, we ought to change the policy,' then I think we ought to consider seriously changing it because those leaders in the military are the ones we give the responsibility to."But now that day has come, a day that ol' John thought would never come, and just like the weasel that he is, he is backing away:
"At this moment of immense hardship for our armed services, we should not be seeking to overturn the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy."Once a weasel, always a weasel.
As it was once said: Eagles may soar high, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines. And let's face it, his days flying ('cept as a passenger) are over, so if the shoe fits...
ReplyDeleteActually, McCain probably would have been better off had he avoided jet engines.
ReplyDeleteAs for DADT and the "time of hardship", I think one of the things that cause hardship is that there's three percent or so of the population who know they're not wanted in the military, and they know that because the military keeps kicking highly qualified people out for no other "crime" than being gay.
I guess weasels aren't all that smart, are they?
Several Arabic translators were kicked out of the military for being gay. We kinda need them, right?
ReplyDeleteAs for gays serving in the military and disrupting things, if straight soldiers can avoid sexual antics, do they think gay people are so hypersexual they cannot control themselves around fellow soldiers?
It's fucking stupid is what it is.
Gay people already are in the military, lesbians especially.
We pay equal taxes and we should have the right to defend our country.
I'm shocked that a huge class action lawsuit has not been filed by now.
As for McCain, his credibility was shot when he chose Sarah Palin as a running mate. He's not worth listening to, on any matter.
That's true, Karen Z. When women were integrated into the military they had to create rules about fraternization. Those rules struck me as very strict. They'd certainly apply equally well to homosexual fraternization.
ReplyDeleteMy pet weasels never back away...except in play. McCain is more of a turtle, he even looks like one and pulls his head under cover at first danger.
