Gee, weren't those CV-22s supposed to be doing this work by now? According to Springbored, the V-22 is such a good platform that the Israelis have changed their minds and told the DoD they don't want them.

COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
Just to clarify, the Osprey is a Marines bird, not an Army bird. Because only Jarheads would be stupid enough to fly in such a deathtrap ;). (Well, that and the fact that the Army is prohibited from flying fixed-wing aircraft, and the Osprey might arguably be considered a fixed wing aircraft).

The Osprey is so weird the FAA had to make up a new category for it. It is the one-and-only "powered lift" category aircraft. ( The others are: Airplane, Rotorcraft, Glider, Lighter-Than-Air, Powered parachute, and Weight-shift-control.)
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely proof that with enough power you can make anything fly, and build an aircraft even less attractive to me than helicopters.
