One Song That Does Not Seem to Get Old

Life in Wartime:

Other than references to records, the Mudd Clubb and CBGB, the times have only gotten worse. There are a number of different versions of the lyrics on the Intretubes, but one had this as the last two lines.
Try to be careful, don’t take no chances,
You better watch what you say.

  1. Oh yeah, David's got more than one song that never gets old. Things aren't quite that bad ... yet

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
    this ain't no fooling around
    This ain't no mudd club, or C. B. G. B.
I ain't got time for that now

Heard about Houston? Heard about Detroit?
    Heard about Pittsburgh, PA?
You oughta know not to stand by the window
somebody might see you up there

My favorite one from years ago is Once in a lifetime. He & Eno have a newish release that's pretty good.

  2. Great tune and you're absolutely right. Regardless of the '70s/80s references, the song is time;ess and apropos.
