Guest Caturday

These are outdoor cats around a friend's house.

Sweetie is Gracie's littermate. She is maybe 60% of Gracie's weight, yet both sisters are showing signs of arthritis. She is mostly feral.

Ralph is a neighbor's cat. He destroys screens to get out, so they gave up trying to keep him in. He was told my my friend to stay out of her catnip pot and she was convinced that he was obeying her. This photo proved otherwise.

This is a new arrival for the food line. He's been named "Tom". For an apparently unneutered male, he is very mellow. Long term plan is to gain his trust and then have him neutered.

    And then what? :)
It may be harder to gain his trust the 2nd time.

  2. Adopt him out to someone. Or if not, release him. Sweetie was spayed ten years ago. Sweetie is all that is left of a colony of about a dozen cats a decade ago. Between neuter-and-release and time, the colony has been scaled back drastically. there would be a hell of a lot more cats out there otherwise.

  3. Oh, don't get me wrong. I think it's a great thing to do. Feral cats have a tough, dangerous life, and starving due to overpopulation is a bad end.
