First up, the rat bastards from Countrywide Financial. They willfully made hundreds of thousands of risky loans to people who had not business taking out those mortgages; "liar loans," if you will. Countrywide's policy was to make loans to anyone who could find a broker to fill out the papers. Countrywide Financial was a major trigger in the financial meltdown that is hurting almost everyone in this country (and in the industrialized world).
So now those same pustulent douchebags have figured out a way to make millions more from their malfeasance.
Second, and further down the food chain, are debt collectors whose task is to collect money from the families of dead people. They are getting money, successfully, from people who have no obligation to pay those debts. They are nothing but soulless, black-hearted ghouls. They are so evil that even Dick Cheney, on reading that news story, said: "Damn, that's cold."

ReplyDeleteWe lost our home. It was a Countrywide mortgage and they did not fully disclose all of the terms when we signed the deal. From what I have read about others dealings with Countrywide - and subsequently losing their home - what happened to us was very typical of their modus operandi. We knew our mortgage would go up after 2 years. What nobody told us was that it would go up every three months after that 'til the payment nearly doubled and we walked away when we could no longer afford it no matter how many more jobs we both took.
Live and learn...
