The Nuked-Over Earth

When Battlestar Galactica ended season 4.0, we saw that they had arrived at Earth, only to find it was an uninhabited planet.

So what we learned was this: (continued in the comments)

  1. First off, the series takes place in the future, as Earth had been nuked over 2,000 years before the Colonial Fleet arrived.

Second, the Colonials may not be humans. Oh, they think they are, but they probably aren't. For Earth was populated by Cylons. So either *we* are Cylons, or the Cylons displaced humans. Which is unlikely, for in the few glimpses we had of the pre-nuked Earth, the street scenes were not very futuristic, the technology in view was not very dissimilar from now.

And third, the big mystery is what the hell really happened to Kara Thrace?

  2. My money's on Kara inhabiting a closed, timelike curve. The instance of her that died just got pinched out of spacetime, crashing on Earth and taking her beacon with her.

I'm saying that because it's *utterly unlike* anything else that's happenned in BSG, and they like curveballs.

You think Patrick Duffy is going to step out of the shower?

Nah, I'm more expecting a Heroic Descent into the Fire to save everyone. Or something.
