The wonks at the Treasury Department threw over $140 billion at AIG to keep the company alive.
It is not working. AIG apparently will go belly up anyway.
140 billion smackers is roughly the direct cost of one entire year of the Iraq War. Which was shat through by AIG in less than two months. Things were (and are) a lot worse at AIG then they disclosed.
Bet nobody goes to jail for this fiasco, either.
