"We have had the White House for the last eight years and the Congress for six of them, but we haven't really been in charge." So if you are dissatisfied with the way the Republicans have been running the country, the way to change that is to put another Republican in the White House, one who has voted with George W. Bush between 90% and 95% of the time.
And, as Jon Stewart points out, the GOP's opinion of those who have engaged in community service, who have been part of George H.W. Bush's "thousand points of light" is basically this: "Fuck you."
