The Georgian Army was in complete disarray last night after troops and tanks fled the town of Gori in panic and abandoned it to the Russians without firing a shot.
Um, who trained those guys? Oh, right, we did!
I do like how one guy is saying that the Georgian Army has an advantage in training over the Russian Army at the same time the Russians are rolling up the Georgians like a cheap rug.
In the meantime, our own Darth Cheney said that Russia's whomping of the Georgians "must not go unanswered." Yes, stern words are the order of the day. The Russians have a "sovereign wealth fund" in the order of hundreds of billions of dollars. They could cut the oil pipeline through Georgia if they wanted to. They could make it a cold and expensive winter for much of Europe.
The Bush Administration has no ideas if they cannot drop bombs on their problems.
Update: This is an interesting read.
Update II: Dan Froomkin lays the blame largely upon (you guessed it) George W. Bush.
