"We Accept War Criminals"

That would seem to be the message that the Pope is sending these days. First, Tony "the Poodle" Blair and now, apparently, Dorquemada. Whether this is an attempt to gain influence by converting powerful politicians or it is an attempt to minister to the most despicable of souls is a question I shall leave for others.

Maybe the attraction is that Catholicism has a well-defined system of penance, so they may think that they can cleanse their souls of the horrific crimes that they have committed. Maybe they think they can purchase an indulgence for their crimes.

It matters not, for in the eyes of billions of people on this planet, and, in all likelihood, the judgment of history, those two are, and will always be, war criminals.
