Cheney Still Wants His Third War

Michael Scheuer argues in the Asia Times that al-Qaeda has been deliberately downplayed by the Bush Administration so that the cabal of war mongers can argue that we have the resources to start (and lose) another war. A story in McClatchy confirms that discussions about attacking Iran are ongoing.

Isn't it about time that we insist that the Bush Administration demonstrate that they can successfully conclude one of the two wars going on now before starting a third war?

Bush's war in Iraq has been bad for the people of Iraq, America and the rest of the world. The instability in the oil markets that Bush has wrought has brought real suffering to over a billion people and economic pain to billions.

But that same instability in the oil markets has brought untold riches to the House of Saud and to the oil men that make up Bush's true base. Further instability will make them even more insanely wealthy. Over 4,000 dead American soldiers, over a hundred thousand injured American soldiers, over a hundred thousand dead Iraqi civilians and millions displaced; to George Bush, that is a small price to pay if it benefits his family and friends.

Truth: When the choice comes between doing what is best for the working people of the United States and doing what is best for the House of Saud, George Bush is going to do what is best for the House of Saud, for they have been the friends of his family for generations.

And if that means letting Darth Cheney have his third war, so be it.
