HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson demanded that Philadelphia Housing Authority Director Carl R. Greene turn over a vacant lot, worth about $2 million, to a man named Kenny Gamble. By the sheerest of coincidences, Gamble just happens to be a friend of Jackson's.
Greene refused.
So Jackson has his underlings strip $50 million in Federal funds to the Philadelphia Housing Authority. His henchmen, Orlando J. Cabrera and Kim Kendrick, both assistant secretaries in charge of making sure that Jackson's buddies got rich, were stupid enough to discuss this in e-mails.
Right now this is a matter in civil litigation. But if the Justice Department has time to go after Eliot Spitzer for getting laid, you'd think that they might find time to look at throwing some of these corrupt jerks into the adjoining cells.
