Blaming Others for One's Own Fuckups

Robert Gates, the Secretary of Defense, is blasting other NATO nations for not committing more troops to Afghanistan to counter the resurgence of the Taliban.

So, whose fault was it that the Taliban survived to reconstitute itself? Who was it that took away forces and resources from Afghanistan to prosecute another, far more costly war? Who was it that refused to provide a meaningful level of reconstruction aid so that the circumstances would not arise that would both make some of the people of Afghanistan receptive to the Taliban and would help the farmers not go back to planting opium poppies in order to survive?

You may indeed ask those questions, Mr. Gates. You will find the guilty party sitting behind a big desk in the Oval Office.

But I'm betting you won't ask. It's easier to blame the other NATO nations rather than have to admit that it was your boss who made the choices that have gotten us to where we are today.

  1. You have pointed out the biggest mistake Bush ever made.
By not even attempting to finish what he started in Afghanistan.
You would think that only twenty odd years ago another Superpower leaving with their tails between their legs after a disasterous ten year war might just be a bit of a yellow light to even the staunchest war monger.
    But no.
Then, the cocky little bastard really shit the bed.Splitting our forces and hanging a left at Baghdad.
There are a great deal of war mongers who have a tanker truck full of FAIL heading their way for delivery.
