Republicans and Democracy

Simply put: The Republican Party does not believe in democracy. They believe in rigging elections and disenfranchising voters by tricks reminiscent of the bad old days prior to the civil rights acts of the 1960s.

So it's not just that the GOP has adopted the race-baiting strategy of the Dixiecrats and the segregationists. They are not just trying to appeal to the sheet-wearing two-toothed throwbacks of the Old South, they are tying to make sure that anyone who might vote Democratic does not get to cast a ballot.

That's not democracy, not by a long shot. That is rigging elections. And what it means is that when Chimpy McNumbnutz goes around the world (as he is doing this week), promoting democracy, he is nothing more than a hypocritical forked-tongue weasel. To Republicans, democracy is like taxes, something forced on the other guy, but not practiced at home.
