Liar-in-Chief

According to this story in the Washington Post, Bush has known since August or September that the intelligence estimate was that Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003. That was before El Stupido made his comment that he was trying to prevent World War III.

This report in Mother Jones says that the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran was due a year ago. Whether that was due to new information and analysis or whether the Chickenhawks spent the last year trying to delay or water down the NIE is an open question.

Two things are clear:

1) The Bush Administration cannot be trusted to tell the truth about anything. Everything coming out of the mouths of George Bush, Dick Cheney, or those speaking for them, is a lie, including the words "the" and "and".

2) Anyone who believes or parrots the lines put forth by the Bush Administration is either a card-carrying Kool-Aid drinking Wingnut or a certifiable fool.

However, Pale Rider over at Blue Girl's blog argues that the NIE was released to distract attention from a dismal GAO report regarding the training and readiness of the Iraqi Army and how the Pentagon is basically lying to the American people about the state of the Iraqi Army.

That may be true. But if releasing this damning NIE is a way of diverting attention from a damning GAO report, then the Bush Administration is truly between a rock and a hard place.
