State Department Has Blackwater's Back

As the Russians would say, the State Department was Blackwater's roof (protector). In case you've been wondering why the State Department, of all of the entities who investigated the Blackwater Massacre, was the only one to say "yep, nothing bad happened," it seems there is a fairly simple reason:

The State Department official who ran the investigations had family ties to Blackwater.

This would be embarrassing to the Republicans, if they had any scruples, which they don't. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was holding a hearing, the Republicans were screaming about it being a partisan witch hunt, when State Department Inspector General Howard Krongard indeed confirmed that his brother was a member of Blackwater's Board of Advisors.

But were the Republicans embarrassed? Nah. And now it seems that Krongard did indeed know that his brother was being paid by Blackwater's CEO and he had known that for a very long time. His brother "Buzzy"Krongard, who is probably a tad bit smarter and who has figured out which way the wind is blowing, is talking. Which may means that Howard Krongard was fibbing when he testified.

There is a word for that sort of fib. It's called "perjury."

I ask the question of Republicans that was asked of another Republican over fifty years ago:

Have you no shame?
