Paul Tibbets, R.I.P.

Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay, has died at the age of 92.

As someone who might not have been born if the war hadn't ended when it did, my thanks to you, General.

  1. He named the aircraft Enola Gay after his mother. And from memory, a different Japanese city was the prime target but it was obscured by cloud.

  2. Actually, I think you are half-right. Hiroshima was the primary target on the first mission.

On the second one (the bomber was "Bock's Car"), the primary target was Kokura. The aiming point was obscured, so they bombed Nagasaki.
