I work in an office. I do a fair amount of web-based research. There are fewer things more annoying than going to a website for information when, all of a sudden, music starts blaring through my speakers from that website.
It is even more annoying because I have some music already playing, softly, to drown out the background noise. Two types of music through the same set of speakers is as relaxing and calming as listening to a subway train screech around a curve while the passengers shoot at each other.
So, if you're one of those offending webmasters: Knock that shit off.
