Occupying Forces

From TFS Magnum, come a link to this story:

The cops in Chicago said that two of them stopped a guy for throwing a beer bottle outside of a bar, searched him and found cocaine.

Except that was just a complete and total fib.

What really happened was that 20 cops went into the bar and just searched everyone in the place. That is known because the bar has surveillance cameras and there is video of the event.

This is all of a piece with the "stop snitching" movement. When the cops blatantly do not respect the law, then instead of a legal process, you have a process that is, at its core, corrupt. The cops conduct illegal searches, illegal arrests and commit perjury and based on those lies, judges throw people in prison. That is not a legal system, that is something more in line with the Soviet Union.

Why even bother having a trial? Or a Constitution?

The end result is that the streets are controlled by armed goons, whether they are badged or not.
