Bush sold the Surge on the idea that if we could gain some security in Iraq, that would provide a breathing space for the Iraqi factions to cut a deal, if not reconcile.
Seems the Iraqis are not interested in getting along.
If they don't figure out how to get along, the purported successes in Anbar Province are going to fall apart, as we are arming the Sunnis and if they see that things can't go their way, there is no reason why they will not go back to what they were doing before: Killing our soldiers.
