Current EVs May Be Worthless in Five Years

Li-ion batteries may be obsolete in the near future. If solid state batteries pan out, current EVs are going to be junk.

    Well, no, I'll just replace the battery. Have already scoped it out: the process is not unlike swapping the motor out of a Volkswagon. Just jack the body up a bit off the frame, drop the old battery, install the new. They've already got it down to an afternoon

    At first I took this as ((( Big Oil Doomerism ))), gas company gaslighting

    It's not like gasoline cars never catch on fire ...

    You could say we are in the early adopter phase of technology. To me, there's still a lot of physics and engineering. I'm not real nuts about the physics of Li-ion technology. China has a battery a industry and we don't.
