Remember Napster and other file-sharing systems? The music industry went batshit. The threatened and, in some cases brought, legal action against people who downloaded music. They threatened criminal action.
But when you're a billionaire and have an AI company, you can get away with vacuuming up millions of copyrighted works in order to train your program and you don't have to pay a fucking nickel for that.
Once again, laws and rules are only for little people to obey.

COMMENT MODERATION IS IN EFFECT UFN. This means that if you are an insulting dick, nobody will ever see it.
The difference is that with Napster and Limewire, regular folks were downloading files to listen to and enjoy, whereas with AI training, lots and lots of money is going to be made by already filthy rich assholes.
