DeleteJoseph E Stiglitz (Nobel Laureate) explained that the manufacturing jobs trump wants to bring back, won't be. 1) it'll take too long to build the physical factories, 2) it'll take even longer to build up the supply lines, and 3) most manufacturing now is done by robotics so there won't be the great increase in jobs trump anticipates. By the time the investments into those facilities start to aid the economy, trump will be gone from office.
ReplyDeleteThe US economy is mostly driven by service industries; i.e., tourism, education, and health etc. trump's policies against non-American peoples have already hurt tourism and we haven't even reached the summer travel season. His gutting of the Department of Education along with attacks on universities is weakening education, and we are watching the evil 'doctor' Kennedy devastate the health system. But those that refuse to see will still support him right up to their own demise.

Not only that, but those factory jobs from, what, fifty years ago that people remember so fondly were union jobs. Does anyone really think any new factory jobs will pay enough to live on? Hell no.
DeleteDGC, true. A factory worker back then, in a union plant, made enough to support a family, own a modest home and a late-model car. Those working in nonunion factories had to hold down two jobs.
