Donald Trump has vowed that the US will “take over” war-ravaged Gaza and “own it”, effectively endorsing the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, in an announcement shocking even by the standards of his norm-shattering presidency.
Trump, who has previously threatened Greenland and Panama and suggested that Canada should become the 51st state, added Gaza to his expansionist agenda, claiming that it could become the “Riviera of the Middle East”. He declined to rule out sending US troops to make it happen.
Jim Stonekettle is right: The Felon is channeling the 19th Century BIA; all he's missing is smallpox-infested blankets. Kick out two million people to go where, exactly? Maybe some of them could move to beautiful pieces of land in and around Mar-a-Lago.
He is fucking delusional. Gen. Eisenhower observed in 1945 that there wasn't a building standing between Berlin and Moscow, but that was rebuilt.
The Egyptians and the Jordanians are not going to take massive numbers of Palestinians. Their governments won't survive. Jordan's monarchy would fall in a day if it agreed to this.
Beyond that, it's kind of sad how Republicans, who decry nation-building at every turn,keep taking on massive projects that are destined to fail at every turn: Iraq (now effectively an Iranian puppet), Afghanistan (where Trump surrendered to the Taliban) and now, Gaza.
And, to all those who didn't vote in the last election because they were mad at Biden for the Gaza War: How's that working out for you? You're now in a position where nobody gives a flying fuck what you think. Abba Eban was right about you clowns: You never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
