President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order directing the Department of Justice to pause enforcing a nearly half-century-old law that prohibits American companies and foreign firms from bribing officials of foreign governments to obtain or retain business.
“It sounds good, but it hurts the country,” Trump said of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as he signed the order at the White House.
He can refuse to enforce the Act all he wants, but the truth of the matter is that a time will come when the Orange Felon isn't in office and the next president/AG can direct enforcement to resume, including looking at bribery that happened during the Putin Puppet's time. Any competent company lawyer knows that; they'll do their jobs and advise their clients most strongly to follow the law.
Trump identifies with taking bribes both outbound and inbound. He's quite flexible that way. Bribes are okay if one gets what they want especially in a banana republic. The same kind of banana republic that DJT JR and his ilk have accused the Democrats of turning this country into, on more than one occasion.
