A Little Bondo, Some Paint, and That'll Buff Right Out

A Belgian Air Force F-16 has been destroyed and another aircraft damaged when the M61A1 Vulcan 20mm cannon on board a third F-16 was accidentally fired on the ground by maintenance personnel at Florennes Air Base in the Walloon area of Southern Belgium on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018.

Yeah, I know, it happened two years ago. So sue me.

  1. Impressive. I wonder how long the Wow factor lasted before the Oh'Shit factor kicked in? They can't make them pay for it though, right?
I kind of thought those things had safeties so stuff like that doesn't happen? I guess nothing is safe from an inquisitive 20-year-old.

  2. There’s about three plus steps that should prevent this from happening, including inserting a pin, a safety and unloading the weapon.
