Ihre Papiere, Bitte

The Gestapo, err, Customs and Immigration, is setting up more and more checkpoints to stop people and to search their cars without any probable cause whatsoever. If you get on an intercity bus or an Amtrak train, some goons may come up to you to demand to see your papers.

No word as to whether or not they're wearing black leather trenchcoats and carrying PPKs or P-38s. But they might as well be doing that.

  3. Hit Esc just as the title pops up and if your timing is good, you short out the subscription notice.

  4. Yep, subscription required. Not sure why you get it for free with no subscription. And I won't give 'em a dime.
But the 'Esc" trick worked after a few tries. Thanks for the tip, Deadstick.

Really nothing new. They did it under Barry and now they are doing it under Trump.Illegal searches. Not "legal" as in within 100 miles of the border (which law I find offensive, but has been around since before i was born) but illegal, as in bus and train stations outside of their jurisdiction. Nothing new. Perhaps more of those searches, but they did it before Trump too.

Notice the fact that the scope of the stop is not just "are you a citizen?" but searches as well? Dogs for scent and actual hand searches?

I doubt that they make any impact on illegal immigration with this. A wall would do much more.

  5. Donnie will make it a lot worse, B.

  6. Perhaps he will. Not much we can do about it.

Not like Barry or Bush did much to fix it, or any other president.

Have to wait and see. I don't think he will make it worse. Look at the timeline of when the increase in "Searches" began. 'Twasn't under Trump. It began under the rule of the Lightbringer.

  9. Interesting development here. My wife had occasion to take Grey Dog to visit our daughter, within this same state.
While waiting for a transfer at the Sacaramento Ca. Station, she was approached by "security" who demanded to search her purse and bag for Alcohol or Weapons.
My wife is as threatening as every other 4'8", grey haired Gramma out there so I can see how she attracted suspicion???
WTF? I call that unreasonable search, but I'm not a lawyer. OK it is a federal transportation mode, but don't spot searches break the law?
    Just a Wondering

  10. Dark Avenger:

Irritatin' Innit? especially when someone does it to your dude. I just figured since y'all thought it was OK to disrespect presidents that you didn't like that it was ok to disrespect Barry the same way.

    See, that's how it works.
