President* Trump on Monday claimed he would have run into a Florida high school to prevent a gunman from carrying out this month's mass shooting.So give him a parade.
"I really believe I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon,” Trump told a gathering of governors at the White House.
I know of no episode in Trump's life to indicate that he would have the courage to go charging in, even if he was fully-kitted out with body armor and a carbine. His only known acts of physical violence in his adult life have been allegedly sexually assaulting women.
Meanwhile, in Florida, the Sheriff of Broward County says that he's an amazing leader, even though (a) his department refused to take the warnings about the Asswipe of Parkland High School seriously and (b) his deputies allegedly hid out behind their squad cars and effectively let Asswipe kill as many kids as he could.
So I guess we could call the Broward County Sheriff a "mini-Trump".
I didn't think we'd have a dumber statement from a president that W's "bring it on", but I was wrong.

ReplyDeleteYou MIGHT be doing theDonald a disservice, and you might not. Most men are programmed to protect women and children by biology and evolution. Your assumption that he wouldn't is patently unfair and, to be honest, cheap.
All we can hope for is when the time comes, we can do the needful. I pray every day that I never have to find out, but if I do, that I can.

ReplyDeleteWhich is why I was surprised (and thought it very strange) that the cops stood by and let it happen. One man might be a coward, the chance of all 4 being cowards is pretty low.
The best accepted analysis of data from Vietnam showed that 10-16% of soldiers never fired their weapons, no matter the situation. Given that statistic, it is likely that the likelihood that a single SRO is afraid to engage is a 1 in 8 to 1 in 10 possibility. If the three other cops did the same, we’d call that a 1 in 1500 possibility, not that impossible...unlikely, but still.

This is just additional proof ... the trained ARMED professionals choose NOT to take their HAND guns into a fire fight with a military assult rifle aka AR 15.
Now it can be argued by those who were NOT there that they would do something different but ...who believes a FIVE time deferred draft dogger would go in WITHOUT a gun!

In all fairness, his reaction can be explained by evolution.
I think cop doctrine for 'lo, these many years, has been not so much putting up with cowardice within their ranks, but an official position of Cop Lives are Sacred Lives. That attitude means they'd rather gun down a thousand unarmed black people (and maybe some whites in that mix,) than let one officer get a hangnail. It means brutal, blindside attacks on anyone, including kids for anything, including protesting. Or celebrating.

The story goes on to say the police were never called. A truly upstanding citizen would have given the cops a description of the perpetrator -- especially if, as Trump claims, he was face-to-face with the perp long enough to have a conversation.
