How Had I Not Ever Heard of Ivan Chesnokov?

He is/was a plain-speaking Russian purist.

That, and more, here.

He would have hated Gecko45. Assuming they are/were real people.

  1. Heh. I bet he would be deeply troubled by my Mossberg Mariner...

  2. Cute fake Russlish. ;)

Yes, Gecko45 was a real person. I worked with him for a while. He was trolling almost as hard as this "Russian". :)

  3. Perhaps they're the same person? Has anybody ever seen them in the same place at the same time?

  5. Tam, my first reaction was the same. Then I read over a reasoned analysis of his sentence structure and use of words and phrases. The use of some idioms does suggest familiarity with America and American behavior, but the writing structure is quite Russian. On the whole, I suggest either a Russian immigrant or a very highly educated American who also speaks Russian.

Either way, a wholly entertaining diversion and I would actually love to read some more "reviews" of this sort. While showing a bias toward Russian weapons, his points are quite accurate overall, and technically descriptive. I do love his assessment that a lot of holes quickly makes caliber mostly irrelevant.

  6. Gecko45 isn't a real person? I'm devastated.
