How Does This Work?

The ACH will stop a 9mm bullet at close range, and rifle bullets at longer ranges.
The ACH is the Advanced Combat Helmet, which replaced the Kevlar "Fritz", which, in turn, replaced the "steel pot" of WW2 through Vietnam.

Rifle bullets have a lot more energy. I'd think that the range for stopping a bullet (0 to some distance) would be a lot shorter for a pistol round than for a rifle round.

  1. I'm thinking that means that it will stop a rifle bullet if there is sufficient distance between the firer and target. Instead of meaning 0 to Y, it will stop it from X to Y where X is the distance needed for sufficient energy reduction.

  2. Either way, I'm not lining up to be the test dummy.

  3. Terrant, I think you're right. It'll stop a pistol bullet up close and a rifle bullet that is fired from much farther away.
