Few Tears Will Be Shed

for the Russian oligarchs who are slowly being stripped of their companies.

As far as I know, nobody has seriously contested the point that the companies owned by the oligarchs were "purchased" from the Russian government early in the Yeltsin years at prices that ranged from "fire sale" to "corrupt."

Russia has a reputation of being a second-world nation with endemic third-word (or Illinois) level corruption. On a scale of 0-145, Russia ranks 115th for corruption (the U.S. is 15th).
