Flettner designed the very early successful 'Hummingbird' nazi helicopter. I think every major usaf base in Vietnam used these for s&r and fire suppression. Per Wikipedia it accrued twice the operational hours of all other rescue types combined, though newsreels of the day always show hueys or navy type winching downed crewmen through jungle canopy. Maybe the Kamens lacked range for distant rescues.
