  1. 261-8983 No area code needed. Lived in that house with that number for 9 or 10 years and moved out in 1979.

  2. Oddly enough my first phone number (circa 1955) is also my current phone number. It seems however far you go you always come back. Life is transient, but family is forever, like it or not.

  3. One of my contact numbers dates to 1960. 2-0781. Been through a couple area codes since.

    Visiting the old homestead this past summer the best I could come up with to describe the roads where I now reside was "been on better roads in Mississippi, better roads in an Alaskan thaw; been on better roads on The Rez!" To which one of my cousins responded "there are no roads on The Rez." That's what I said.

    I should call and see how things are, but ... they have my number.

    Everyone has a phone these days.

  5. 42011. Miami, 1940's. When exchange names came along, it became HIghland 6-2011. It was, of course, a party line and "our ring" was two shorts.

    (Never found out what "highlands" they were talking about -- our elevation was about three feet.}
